Day 7

We obviously had a lovely time at home but were ready to leave. All our stocks were refilled and we took to the road just after 7.28am. The traffic outside of Chester were quite bad but we found a cycling lane which was good. Crossing the Manchester ship canal were the highlight of the day and then we made our way across both the M6 and the M62. In the space of 2 hours we also crossed the M61 twice and the M65 once.

I felt really good for most of the way, say up to about 60mi but after that my energy levels started to drop and the last 15mi from Whalley was the hardest ever. At one stage it felt as if I was going to fall off my bike from utter exhaustion. We climbed more than 4000ft today and I will put the stats on as soon as I'm able to as the GARMIN is charging at the moment.

A hot shower was a home reward and then off to the local pub (a mere 10ft away).

Tomorrow is another long day - 80mi but at least the longest day of the ride has been done !

Needless to say that I broke my 2 records again today: 39.4mi mph and the longest cycle ever - 91mi in one go!
